CEFLA: secure, self-service management of corporate devices

A large industrial group

CEFLA is a large industrial group that has been operating in the global market for 90 years across diverse sectors, with each production area represented by dedicated Business Units. Cefla Engineering designs, builds, and manages technological systems in the civil, industrial, and energy sectors. Cefla Finishing is a world leader in the design and production of industrial solutions for painting, decoration, and digital printing on wood and various materials. Cefla Medical Equipment supports the field of dentistry, from digital radiology to instruments for implantology and oral surgery. C-LED, the newest business within Cefla, designs and produces LED-powered products for horticulture.
In such a dynamic and multifaceted environment, “mobility” becomes a key concept
Today, a single integrated ERP is used across all the group’s companies. However, especially in production and warehouse operations, certain functionalities are increasingly accessed on the move. To better manage all devices, which are inherently scalable, CEFLA sought a Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) solution with the concrete goal of smartly organizing its growing device fleet, anticipating a significant increase in all devices throughout 2022.
And then Var Group and VMware Workspace ONE come into play
After a software selection process lasting less than a month, during which feedback and positive references were gathered, the company chose VMware’s UEM solution, Workspace ONE. Thanks to Var Group, the technology partner in this important investment, the implementation of the solution was also very fast: within sixty days, a self-service management system for CEFLA devices was up and running, with setup and configurations focused on device management and security.
Before and after the technology investment: what has changed?
The internal organization has been transformed: in the past, external suppliers had to be involved for any issue, whereas today they are called only when a device is damaged. Each user can now automatically configure their own device with email and the apps most useful for their daily operations. Thanks to the scalability of Workspace ONE, greater control over every device has been achieved, along with flexible and secure configuration management that can be changed on the fly for user groups, with preliminary testing that reduces the margin of error. Finally, an always-updated inventory of the entire device fleet is available; the system also produces real-time tracking and distribution of all devices in a centralized manner.
