Innovation and strategic partnerships

Sofinter is an internationally recognized industrial group operating in the industrial plants and energy production sector. The collaboration with Var Group brings together both technological and application expertise: strong capabilities in the SAP ecosystem and a shared vision for growth and development. The decision to migrate the SAP system to Microsoft Azure has enabled the company to benefit from the robustness of a market-leading solution and to build a consistent and fully integrable infrastructure, reducing complexity and integration costs while preparing the organization for future business evolution. Thanks to this strong alignment, the project has represented not only a technological leap forward, but also a strategic investment in the future.
Data integrity, agility, cost reduction, and security
The evidence of an outdated, costly IT architecture no longer suited to business growth led Sofinter to modernize its SAP environments with the goal of reducing infrastructure costs and ensuring greater operational continuity. The company sought a flexible model that would eliminate initial hardware investments and maintenance or upgrade expenses, making costs predictable and sustainable. The Cloud proved to be the right path, allowing resources to scale according to needs without physical constraints, freeing up capacity for strategic activities, maintaining data integrity, and operating under high security standards. This approach ensures agility, adaptability, and, ultimately, competitiveness.
Towards a Cloud-Centric Infrastructure
The adoption of the Cloud has boosted Sofinter’s level of innovation, ensuring security and reliability through high standards of data protection and operational continuity; flexibility, by enabling resources to be adapted to business needs quickly and without physical constraints; and continuous innovation, with immediate access to advanced functionalities such as artificial intelligence. This technological investment supports the company’s growth strategy and international best practices, resulting in more efficient processes, real-time data availability, and a solid foundation to tackle future challenges.
An integrated and flexible technological ecosystem

In 2024, Sofinter began the migration of SAP S/4HANA to the Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure. Fully managed by Var Group through several technical phases, the system went live in July 2025 and, once the infrastructure was consolidated, was upgraded to the latest SAP release. Additional services include monitoring and FinOps practices, managed services for the SAP Basis component, and application management services—all coordinated by the Var Group team. Today, Sofinter benefits from a unified, secure, and scalable technological ecosystem that connects offices and people across Italy and abroad, reducing operational complexity, ensuring performance and consumption optimization, and enabling new scenarios—from AI to future IoT projects in line with Industry 5.0.

“Migrating our SAP S/4HANA to the public cloud is much more than a simple upgrade: it is a key step in our digital transformation, providing us today with a more secure, scalable, and flexible infrastructure to face the challenges of an ever-evolving market and to align with the highest international standards.”
